About the event
LAMINATED SILENCE is a poetic coming-of-age film about belonging, identity, and the silent subtle pressure to conform at the cost of one's own authenticity
Mira enters a new world where she adapts by morphing to fit in with a confident, fast-moving group of girls. As Mira's longing to belong intensifies, she begins to betray the core aspects of herself; self-expression is negotiated, muted, and nearly lost - revealing how easily wanting acceptance can lead to dissolution and restructuring of the self
This tale captures how we negotiate and abandon fundamental pieces of ourselves as we draft social contracts required to navigate society
